The loss of her husband had sent Dee Johnson’s family into a tailspin that she was afraid they would not recover from. Not only had Pa-Pa’s passing affected his wife but their children and their children’s children as well. While the family members struggled with their own concerns, the hole that their beloved father and grandfather had left behind had started a crack in the family’s foundation and Dee’s health began to decline as she watched the fracture grow, separating her flock and casting treasured family traditions into the emptiness Pa-Pa’s death had created. But one tradition had survived Each year the family members would gather and write their Christmas wishes on a note to be tucked safely into an envelope and opened by Ma-Ma on Christmas Eve and read aloud. Fearing that her time was short and she would soon be joining her beloved husband, Dee had only one very special wish this year. Though some wishes were not granted each year, Dee hoped that this year she would be granted her one wish for Christmas.
